We are an organization of independently operated dojos (Karate Schools) that are dedicated to the promotion of the art of Goju Ryu Karate-do in Canada.
The Honbu Dojo (Headquarters) in Toronto, Ontario was founded 1965, making the Canada Goju Karate Association one of the oldest organizations of it's kind.
Through the CGKA, the traditional teachings of Master Chojun Miyagi's Okinawa Goju-Ryu Karate-do continue to be passed from generation to generation of Canadians.
As well as Traditional Goju Karate Instruction, many dojos also offer Tai Chi Chu'an (Yang Style), Kobudo (Okinawan Weaponry) and Self-Defense Programs. Contact your
local dojo for the program offerings in your region.
With so many years of experienced instruction, the CGKA has developed a proven martial arts curriculum for adults and children. Learning respect for others is the
foundation of building positive life habits through karate training. Students may also discover improved physical fitness, increased mental focus and strengthened
self-confidence while learning valuable self-defense skills.
Each individual dojo is owned and operated by a certified Black Belt instructor who follows the direction and guidance of Kyoshi Bill Hind (8th dan), the most senior
Canadian Student of Goju-ryu Karate. All Black Belts are tested and ranked by the Kyoshi Hind and the CGKA Black Belt grading board after demonstrating years of dedicated
training with the Sensei (teacher) at their local dojo.
